CTPA announces that the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) called on October 15, 2024, inviting industry participation in a consortium aimed at defending L-carvone (CAS 6485-40-1). This fragrance ingredient is under consideration for harmonized classification as CMR 2 (reprotoxic) under the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. IFRA's consortium plans to develop a dossier for the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) to assess the possibility of an exemption under Article 15 of the EU Cosmetics Regulation, which would permit the continued use of L-carvone. Companies interested in joining this initiative should contact CTPA by November 15, 2024, for further participation details.
