The Federal Trade Commission intends to host a public workshop on "recyclable" advertising claims on May 23, 2023. The workshop is part of the Commission's recently announced regulatory evaluation of the Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims (the "Green Guides," 16 C.F.R. Part 260). The FTC will convene a panel of environmental experts to discuss deceptive environmental claims.

Panellists will be announced closer to the workshop date, but the following topics will be discussed:
1. The current state of recycling practices and recycling-related advertising in the U.S
2. Consumer perception of current and emerging recycling-related claims, and
3. The need for any updates or other changes to the Green Guides related to recycling claims
