Overview

Indonesia is one of the leading markets for cosmetics in Asia continent. Indonesian Agency for Drug and Food control, under Indonesian Ministry of Health otherwise called Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) is responsible for the process of cosmetics registrations in Indonesia. The cosmetic products in Indonesia can be registered as per the Indonesian law only if it is enlisted under legal entities, regulated by the BPOM. It is mandatory to have an import license is required to enrol the products though the Indonesian customs. For foreign companies, local agents are required to obtain a license to register a product. Unique notification is required for each product.

Though the process of notification is done online, uploading detailed information of the products will, sometimes, be a daunting task for organizations. Upon successful registrations of the product, BPOM gives a unique notification number within 14 days after payment validation. Additionally, adhering to halal restrictions and other culturally oriented regulations becomes a daunting task.
