Public consultation: Draft Mercosur Technical Regulation (RTM) on use of silicones in food contact applications

The draft RTM on silicones described for the manufacture of materials, packaging, coatings, and food-contact equipment is submitted for consultation before approval.

With the exception of coatings meant for cellulosic materials, the MERCOSUR Technical Regulation project regulates the use of silicones in materials, containers, and apparatus intended for contact with food. The project, in particular, sets various conditions that silicone materials, containers, coatings, and food-contact equipment must meet.
