The Drug Control Division in South Korea comes under the Drug Safety Planning Committee of the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). It is responsible for establishing and promoting a comprehensive plan for narcotic safety and management. The Drug Control Division Officer supports and supervises the Integrated Narcotics Information Management Center. They create a master plan for:

  • The distribution and monitoring of narcotics and raw material
  • Restriction on labeling
  • Advertisement and acceptance of narcotics, and
  • Establishment of guidance and control plan for sales

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establishment and adjustment of comprehensive plans for the collection and inspection of narcotics and collection and disposal of drugs
  • Appointment, dismissal, and training of narcotics supervisors
  • Reporting and statistical management of narcotic production and import performance
  • General management of narcotic handling reports and integrated information management
  • Prevention of narcotic abuse
  • Matters concerning the collection and disposal of domestic medical narcotic drugs, etc
