Argentina has adopted Decree 892/2025, introducing a major reform to simplify market access for imported products by recognizing foreign technical compliance. Under the new framework, import requirements are considered fulfilled when products already comply with regulations of designated reference countries, hold certifications from accredited international certification bodies, or are supported by test reports from accredited laboratories. This approach significantly reduces duplicative local testing and certification, accelerating approvals, lowering compliance costs, and improving predictability for importers and manufacturers. Argentina will recognize authorizations and compliance from Australia, EFTA countries, EU Member States, the United States, Israel, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Products legally marketed or certified in these jurisdictions may enter the Argentine market without undergoing additional local technical evaluations, subject to specific conditions. The reform benefits a wide range of regulated non-food products, including low- and medium-risk medical devices, certain in vitro diagnostics, cosmetics and personal care products, household cleaning products, and some veterinary products. However, sensitive categories such as food, human medicines, fertilizers, unprocessed agricultural goods, used products, weapons, hazardous chemicals, and goods governed by special legal regimes are excluded. The new regime will enter into force 60 days after publication.
