On December 12, 2025, the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of China issued a notice soliciting public suggestions for the establishment of cosmetics and toothpaste standards for 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen the formulation and revision of cosmetics standards and support the implementation of national policies promoting high-quality industry development. The solicitation focuses on key areas including raw material safety control, safety and efficacy evaluation, and the application of emerging technologies. Priority directions include proposals related to prohibited, restricted, and permitted raw materials; standards for high-use or high-risk raw materials; alignment with mature international standards; development or revision of inspection methods for substances prone to illegal addition; and general technical requirements related to cosmetic safety and quality. Relevant organizations and individuals are encouraged to submit project proposals through the designated cosmetics standards management system. This effort reflects Chinas ongoing commitment to improving regulatory science, strengthening cosmetics supervision, and ensuring product safety through stakeholder participation.
