On January 15th, 2026, China’s National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) released a public consultation notice on three draft cosmetic testing standards aimed at strengthening cosmetic quality and safety evaluation. The draft standards cover test methods for trivalent chromium (Cr (III)) and hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) in cosmetics, test methods for 1-hydroxyethyl-4,5-diamino-pyrazole sulphate and 11 other cosmetic ingredients, and test methods for lauryl amino acid ester hydrochloride. Stakeholders, including industry participants and testing institutions, are invited to submit comments through the Cosmetic Standards Development and Revision Management System by 24 February 2026. The initiative supports improved scientific consistency in cosmetic testing, enhances regulatory supervision, and contributes to stronger compliance and safety oversight within China’s cosmetics regulatory framework.
