The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued FDA Advisory No. 2025-1572, advising healthcare professionals, retailers, and consumers not to purchase or consume the unregistered food product FREDDI BARBIE Soft Mini-Cakes with Strawberry-Yogurt Filling.
According to the FDA, verification through online monitoring and post-marketing surveillance confirmed that the product is not registered and has not been issued a Certificate of Product Registration (CPR). As a result, the FDA cannot assure the products safety, quality, or compliance with regulatory requirements, as it has not undergone the agencys evaluation process.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9711 (the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009), the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, distribution, promotion, or advertising of unregistered food products is prohibited. Establishments found violating these provisions may be subject to regulatory enforcement actions and sanctions.
The FDA has directed all concerned establishments to immediately stop distributing, selling, advertising, or promoting the product until a valid CPR is obtained. Local authorities have been requested to ensure that the product is not made available in their jurisdictions, while the Bureau of Customs has been urged to restrain its importation and exportation.
Consumers and stakeholders are encouraged to verify the registration status of food products through the FDA Verification Portal and the FDA Advisories Issuances Database, and to report any continued sale or distribution of unregistered food products to the FDA.
The FDA reiterates its commitment to protecting public health and urges consumers to purchase only FDA-registered food products.
