On 6 February 2026 by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (Minister), Republic of Korea (Announcement No. 2026-107). Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment has issued a legislative notice for the partial amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Safety Management of Household Chemicals and Biocides (also known as the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety Control Act / K-BPR-related framework). This is in accordance with Article 41 of the Administrative Procedure Act, to seek public opinions in advance. Reason for Revision: The amendment implements provisions from the revised main Act (effective 12 May 2026), including: A. Establishing grounds for extending the validity period of safety standards conformity verification for household chemical products subject to safety confirmation. B. Introducing improvement orders for violations (e.g., labeling standards). It prescribes necessary implementation details to support these changes. Key Contents of the Proposed Amendments: A. Article 37 (new): Establishes a basis for processing tasks related to the extension of validity periods through an information network system. B. Article 38 (new): Provides grounds for delegating improvement order-related tasks to basin (river basin) environmental offices and local environmental offices. C. Article 39 (new): Establishes grounds for entrusting validity period extension-related tasks to the Korea Institute of Environmental Industry and Technology (or Korea Environment Corporation). Public Comment Period: From 6 February 2026 to 20 March 2026 (remaining days noted as 22 at the time of notice). This notice aims to enhance administrative efficiency, delegation, and digital handling in household chemical and biocide safety management
