"Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has released a significant update to its regulatory standards by revising the “Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods” and the “Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Animal Products.” The amendments, announced on 26 November 2024 and published 26 November 2025, come into immediate effect and cover both crops and animal‑derived foods. Under the new regulations:
For plant-based foods, TFDA has introduced or revised Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for 15 pesticides across 78 different crops.
For animal products, including meat, poultry, eggs, milk and other livestock‑derived items, MRLs for 10 pesticides have been updated, reflecting revised safety thresholds for residues like insecticides and fungicides.
Some examples of the changes: under crops, MRL for pesticide Acynonapyr in pears has been set at 0.7ppm (previously not specified), and various changes for pesticides like Cyantraniliprole and Cyprodinil have been applied to crops such as scallion.
For animal products, pesticide Cypermethrin now has revised residue limits for muscle, fat, milk, eggs, among others."
