"Thailand has issued a revision to the prepackaged food labelling rules, through a recent announcement in the Royal Thai Government Gazette (No. 97234). The update, provides detailed guidance on the format, content, and presentation of nutritional information for prepackaged foods A key change requires that the background for all nutrition information on prepackaged foods must be white, and the font color must be uniform to ensure high readability. The regulation also establishes detailed minimum font size requirements, distinguishing between different types of nutrient information: 1.Nutrition information per serving and total energy value must appear in bold, with a minimum font height of 1.5 mm. 2.Percent daily values for core nutrients—including total fat, cholesterol, protein, sodium, and total carbohydrates—must also be bold, with at least 1 mm font height. 3.Other vitamins, minerals, and percentages of daily reference intake must follow a consistent 1 mm font height. Beyond typography standards, the revised regulation outlines stricter formatting rules, including mandatory use of a tabular format for nutritional declarations. Each nutrient must list its numerical value, its unit, and the applicable serving size. The regulation emphasizes accuracy, consistency, and legibility, requiring that all nutritional values be precise and clearly visible to consumers. These changes aim to standardize Thailand’s nutrition labelling framework, enhance consumer understanding, and support informed food choices."
