,The WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee issued this notification addendum on 27 January 2026, following a request from the delegations of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. The document provides an important update on the regulatory progress of the Draft East African Standard DEAS 788:2022, titled Synthetic laundry detergent paste Specification, Second Edition. This standard was previously notified to WTO Members under several reference numbers and is intended to harmonize quality and product specifications for synthetic laundry detergent paste across the East African Community region. The addendum confirms that Tanzania has formally adopted the draft standard on 31 October 2025, converting it into a national and regional benchmark published as TZS 1649:2025/EAS 788:2022. By adopting this measure, Tanzania strengthens regional standardization efforts, promotes consistent manufacturing and trade practices, and enhances transparency for international exporters and stakeholders who must comply with updated detergent paste requirements in the East African market.
