The addendum notifies WTO Members that the Draft East African Standard DEAS 815:2022, titled “Soap noodles — Specification, Second Edition,” has been formally adopted. Issued on 27 January 2026, the communication was circulated at the request of the delegations of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda under the WTO Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade. The purpose of this addendum is to provide an update on the status of the previously notified draft measure referenced in documents G/TBT/N/BDI/262, G/TBT/N/KEN/1291, G/TBT/N/RWA/697, G/TBT/N/TZA/816, and G/TBT/N/UGA/1667. The key update is that Tanzania adopted the standard on 31 October 2025, implementing it nationally as TZS 1781:2025/EAS 815:2022. This adoption confirms the transition of the draft specification into an official national and regional standard for soap noodles within the East African Community framework.
