,"The WTO has issued a TBT notification from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda regarding a proposed regional standard, DEAS 186-1:2025 – Bathing Soap, Specification, Part 1: Solid. The draft sets requirements for the quality, labelling, sampling and testing of solid bathing soaps, excluding specialty soaps and products with therapeutic claims. Its purpose is to enhance consumer protection, ensure product quality and support regulatory harmonization across the East African Community.
The proposal aims to reduce technical barriers to trade and facilitate market access through aligned rules. Interested WTO Members and stakeholders may submit comments by 5 December 2025."
