Australia’s AICIS Revises AIIC Listing for 2-Propenoic Acid Following Risk Evaluation

On January 20th, 2026, the Executive Director of the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) varied the terms of the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) listing for the industrial chemical 2-Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, 1,1?-[(1-methylethylidene)di-4,1-phenylene] ester (CAS No. 3253-39-2) following completion of its risk evaluation under Part 4 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 and publication of the final evaluation statement on December 16 2025. The variation to the Inventory listing under section 86 of the Act revises the specific information requirements applicable to this chemical by requiring introducers to notify the Executive Director within 20 working days if the chemical is introduced for consumer end-use (except in articles), including details on volume of introduction and end use, to support ongoing risk management and regulatory oversight.
