"Effective December 08, 2025, OEHHA listed bisphenol S (BPS) on California’s Proposition 65 as a reproductive toxicant for the female reproductive system. The designation was made through the “State’s Qualified Experts” mechanism, following the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee’s (DARTIC) conclusion that BPS has been clearly shown to cause female reproductive toxicity based on scientifically valid evidence.

Consequently, Proposition 65 warning requirements for significant exposures to BPS became mandatory on December 29, 2024.

Prior to the listing, OEHHA initiated a data call-in on March 4, 2022 to gather scientific information on the potential reproductive toxicity of BPS. The 2023 DARTIC meeting included OEHHA’s review of the evidence, committee deliberations and decisions, and public participation. The meeting agenda and summary are available in OEHHA’s documentation. The listing aligns with California’s ongoing regulatory efforts to ensure public awareness regarding chemicals linked to reproductive harm."
