China has released a draft national food safety standard for Diabetes-Specific Total Nutritional Formula Foods under its FSMP (Foods for Special Medical Purposes) framework for public consultation. The standard applies to products intended for individuals aged 10 years and above with diabetes and allows their use as a sole source of nutrition under medical supervision.

2.The draft also sets specific nutritional limits, including energy not less than 70 kcal per 100 g or 100 mL, protein contributing 12%25% of total energy with at least 50% from high-quality sources,
3.fat limited to 20%35% of energy with restrictions on saturated and trans fats, and carbohydrates contributing 30%60% of energy with low GI requirements.
4. It also defines minimum and maximum levels for vitamins and minerals and mandates dietary fiber where applicable. Overall, the draft aims to standardize formulation, ensure safety, and align diabetes-specific medical nutrition products with clinical dietary management needs.
