The EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials evaluated the safety of l-aspartic acid, N-benzoyl, disodium salt for use as a nucleating agent in polypropylene food contact materials at concentrations up to 0.07% w/w. The Panel concluded that the substance does not pose a safety concern for consumers when used under specified conditions. The assessment covered migration of the substance, impurities, and reaction/degradation products, including sodium benzoate, sodium l-aspartate, and benzamide. The authorization applies to food contact materials intended for single and repeated use with all food types, except infant formula, human milk, and water used for reconstituting infant formula, provided migration does not exceed 0.05 mg/kg food.
