Recycling Europe Paper launched its EU Recyclers’ Manifesto: Removing barriers to paper circularity, outlining four policy actions needed to safeguard Europe’s leading circular value chain. While paper recycling saves resources, cuts CO₂ emissions, and supports jobs, it now faces risks from regulatory fragmentation, market pressures, and rising fires caused by mis-sorted lithium batteries. The manifesto urges the EU to recognise recovered paper as a resource, ease administrative burdens within the Single Market, maintain global market access, and address battery fire hazards. President José Andrés Martín Cubero stressed that Europe must act to preserve the climate, economic, and industrial benefits delivered by paper recycling.
