"Effective December 8, 2025, OEHHA added N-methyl-N-formylhydrazine to California’s Proposition 65 list as a carcinogen. The listing followed evaluation by the Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC), which concluded—by an 8-1 vote—that the chemical clearly causes cancer based on scientifically valid evidence. The warning requirement for significant exposures will apply starting December 8, 2026.

The CIC meeting on November 18, 2025 included OEHHA’s presentation of carcinogenicity evidence, committee deliberation, and a public comment session. This followed a data call-in period (Nov 2024–Jan 2025) and public comments submitted from August 29 to October 13, 2025.

During the meeting, the CIC also unanimously voted to remove four chemicals—butoxy polypropoxy polyethoxy ethanol–iodine complex, chlorophacinone, sodium chlorate, and tetraglycine hydroperiodide—from the list of substances previously considered inadequately tested, as data requirements were fulfilled. OEHHA additionally provided updates on other chemical listings, safe harbor levels, and regulatory developments."
