"The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has identified undeclared sulphur dioxide in Ohm Brand Dried Grape (100g), an allergen that could trigger reactions in sensitive individuals. The importer, Santhiyaasree Marketing Pte. Ltd., has been directed to recall the affected products, and the recall is currently ongoing.
Sulphur dioxide can cause allergic reactions in hypersensitive consumers, with symptoms including hives, itchiness, stomachache, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Singapore’s food regulations mandate that ingredients causing hypersensitivity must be clearly declared on prepacked food labels in descending order by weight. While sulphites are generally safe for the wider population, individuals with sulphite intolerance or allergies should avoid the affected products. Consumers who have already consumed the product and experience symptoms are advised to seek medical attention.
