The Republic of Korea notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of a draft amendment to its regulations on warning messages for tobacco product packaging under the National Health Promotion Act. The proposed amendment introduces the sixth series of graphic health warnings and textual messages to be displayed on cigarette packs, in line with the legal requirement to update such warnings every 24 months. The updated warnings aim to enhance consumer awareness of the health risks associated with tobacco use. The measure is intended to strengthen public health protection and improve consumer information through more effective labeling requirements. Stakeholders have been invited to submit comments on the draft regulation during the consultation period. The proposed date of adoption is June 22, 2026, with entry into force scheduled for December 23, 2026.
