"MFDS of South Korea has issued revisions to the Registration and Management Standards for Import Businesses, introducing key changes that affect importers and overseas food manufacturers supplying the Korean market.
Purpose of the Revision : The update aims to simplify and expedite the registration process for import businesses. By reducing redundant administrative steps, MFDS intends to make compliance more efficient while maintaining safety oversight.
Main Change: Previously, all overseas manufacturing facilities were required to undergo an MFDS-conducted on-site inspection as part of the registration process for import businesses.
Under the new revisions: On-site inspections by MFDS may be omitted if the overseas facility has already undergone a hygiene management inspection by an accredited overseas food hygiene assessment agency.
This change removes duplication of inspections and significantly streamlines the registration pathway for compliant foreign producers."
