,"On November 06, 2025, WTO circulated the Egyptian Standard ES 4567, titled ""Paper and Board for Recycling,"" which was officially adopted on 22 October 2025. This standard, categorized under ICS code 85.060, defines specifications and quality requirements for paper and board materials intended for recycling.
1) This addendum pertains to Ministerial Decree No. 372/2025 (1 page, in Arabic), which grants producers and importers a six-month transitional period to comply with the new requirements of ES 4567. The transitional period is designed to provide stakeholders with sufficient time to adapt manufacturing processes, update quality control measures, and ensure that imported and locally produced materials meet the standard.
2) The revised standard replaces earlier versions issued under previous ministerial decrees, ensuring alignment with international and regional standards, including EN 643/2014 and IS 17317/2019. This harmonization aims to:
A) Improve the quality, consistency, and safety of recycled paper and board products.
B) Facilitate trade and integration with international recycling practices.
C) Promote environmental protection through proper recycling procedures and reduction of contamination in recyclable materials.
D) Provide producers and importers with clear technical specifications and guidance for compliance.
E) Producers and importers will continue to be informed of any future amendments or updates to ES 4567 through official publications in the gazette.
