,The WTO circulated Addendum G/TBT/N/EGY/232/Add.3, announcing that Egypt has adopted a partial amendment to the national standard ES 3644 “Paper Products (Tissue Paper)” through Ministerial Decree No. 246/2025. The measure enters into force the day following its publication in the Official Gazette, and producers and importers will have a six-month transitional period to comply. The amendment applies to tissue paper products under ICS 85.080.20 and follows a series of earlier notifications from 2019, 2020, and 2025 related to the same standard.
The revised ES 3644 aligns with international references, including the EU Eco-label requirements for tissue paper (2009/568/EC) and related environmental specifications, as well as GSO 143/1991 and laboratory test results. The goal of the update is to enhance product quality and compliance for tissue paper sold in the Egyptian market.
