European Union updated the official list of designated competent authorities responsible for implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 on deforestation-free products. The regulation targets commodities such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soya, timber, and relevant wood products. Competent authorities across EU member states—including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden—are tasked with ensuring that products entering the EU market are sourced without contributing to deforestation or forest degradation. This update enhances transparency and compliance in the EU’s supply chains for deforestation-free commodities.
