U.S. FDA published a scientific evaluation examining phthalates authorized for use as plasticizers to determine whether they should be considered chemically or pharmacologically related (CPR) substances for inclusion in a future cumulative risk assessment. Based on the available scientific evidence, the FDA proposed grouping four phthalates DEHP, DCHP, DIOP, and DINP as CPR substances. The agency is seeking public comments on the evaluation and proposed grouping through 26 June 2026. The outcome of this process may influence future regulatory assessments of cumulative exposure and risk associated with these phthalates in FDA-regulated products.
