On 3 April 2026 Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced a temporary regulatory measure allowing the use of sticker labeling for required information when alternative packaging materials are used for products such as food, sanitary goods, quasi-drugs, and cosmetics. This decision was made in response to supply chain disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict, particularly affecting the availability of packaging raw materials like naphtha. The measure was rapidly reviewed and approved by the MFDS Proactive Administration Committee, which has recently transitioned to a standing operation system to accelerate decision-making. Under this system, the time required for reviewing and approving regulatory measures has been significantly reduced from up to five days to a maximum of two days, enabling faster responses to urgent industry challenges. The temporary allowance, valid for six months, permits companies to affix required labeling information via stickers when using substitute packaging materials. This addresses previous constraints where delays in manufacturing printing plates hindered the timely use of alternative packaging, even when materials were available. The change is expected to help maintain stable product supply and prevent market disruptions. 3 April 2026 Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced a temporary regulatory measure allowing the use of sticker labeling for required information when alternative packaging materials are used for products such as food, sanitary goods, quasi-drugs, and cosmetics.
