27 March, 2026, Chemical Safety Agency (Notice No. 2026-5) announced a partial revision to the Designation Notice of Acute Hazardous Substances to Humans, Chronic Hazardous Substances to Humans, and Ecologically Hazardous Substances under the Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemical Substances. The amendment updates the existing designation notice (previously Notice No. 2025-19, dated August 7, 2025) in accordance with relevant provisions of the Act and its Enforcement Decree. Key changes include revisions to the names of certain designated hazardous substances under specific identification numbers and the addition of new substances to the list, expanding the scope of regulated chemicals. New entries have been introduced under unique identification numbers ranging from “2026-1-1281” to “2026-1-1354,” reflecting updated hazard evaluations and regulatory priorities. These substances are classified based on their potential acute and chronic toxicity to human health, as well as their ecological hazards. The revised notice aims to strengthen chemical safety management by ensuring that newly identified hazardous substances are properly classified and regulated. It supports improved risk assessment, regulatory oversight, and protection of human health and the environment. The full revised notice is available on the Chemical Safety Agency’s official website under the legal information and safety notices section.
