On 4 May 2026, South Korea's Korea Environment Corporation (KECO) announced the third recruitment round for its “2026 New Chemical Substance Declaration Free Consulting Support Project” aimed at assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in complying with revised requirements under the Chemical Substance Registration and Evaluation Act (K-REACH). According to the notice, the initiative was introduced in response to the implementation of the new chemical hazard information reporting system, which has increased compliance obligations for companies manufacturing or importing new chemical substances. KECO stated that the support programme targets SMEs handling new chemical substances below one ton annually that are subject to notification requirements, including cases involving changes to substance characteristics. The agency explained that selected companies will receive free consulting support covering the full reporting process, including preparation and submission of notification documents. The programme plans to support up to 400 cases, with no restriction on the number of notifications or amendment applications submitted per business registration number. Applications will be accepted from 1 May to 30 June 2026 or until programme capacity is reached. KECO further noted that eligible applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis after verification of qualification requirements and supporting documentation.
