On 22 April 2026 Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced the designation of the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), Ulsan, as an official testing and inspection institution for sanitary products in accordance with Article 6 of the Act on Testing and Inspection in the Food and Drug Fields and Article 2 of its Enforcement Rules. This designation enables the institute to conduct a range of regulatory testing activities, including contracted self-quality testing, import inspections, and collection inspections for sanitary products. The scope of the designation specifically covers oral care sanitary products, including toothbrushes (such as interdental brushes), dental floss, and tongue cleaners. The institute is authorized to perform physicochemical testing to verify product quality, safety, and compliance with applicable regulatory standards. This designation supports the regulatory framework aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of sanitary products available in the market. The validity period for the designation is set from 22 April 2026 to 21 April 2030.
