"The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), has launched a strategic initiative to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for new foods. This initiative underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to driving food innovation and enhancing sustainable food security in the United Arab Emirates.
The upcoming regulatory framework will introduce a streamlined registration system for new foods, harmonized with international best practices adopted in the UAE, GCC, European Union, Singapore, and the United States.
The framework aims to:
Reduce registration timelines for new foods to 6–9 months, positioning Abu Dhabi as a competitive global hub for food technology innovation.
Unify registration requirements for new food products, halal certification, and production/import permits through a single-window contact system, thereby simplifying procedures and accelerating market access.
Establish a national database of approved food products, supported by technical and regulatory guidelines to promote transparency, consistency, and reliability across the sector."
