On December 26, 2024, the National Institute of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology of Argentina issued Regulation No. 11378/2024, proposing to revise the standards for nutrition information on food labels. The main contents are as follows: To ensure that consumers can make choices, manufacturers of packaged foods and non-alcoholic beverages must provide clear, easy-to-understand information about their nutritional content; To protect the health of consumers, manufacturers must warn consumers about excessive intake of sugar, sodium, saturated fat, total fat, and calories in food; All advertising, promotion and/or sponsorship of packaged foods and non-alcoholic beverages should be subject to relevant regulations if the product contains at least one warning label (such as a precautionary legend for sweeteners and/or caffeine); Implementation of specific rules: Advertising, promotion or sponsorship must comply with the specific rules listed in the annex that forms part of the regulations; Violation of the above provisions will result in the owner of the advertising product and the person responsible for technical guidance (if applicable) facing corresponding legal sanctions.
