"On November 5, ANVISA issued a comprehensive ban on the sale, distribution, manufacture, advertising, and use of all food and energy supplements produced by OZT Comércio Atacadista Especializado em Produtos Ozonizados Ltda. The action also authorizes the seizure of products containing added ozone—a gas that has not been evaluated for safety as an ingredient in food supplements or ready-to-drink beverages. Currently, ozone is only permitted in Brazil as a disinfectant for water treatment.

ANVISA also found that the company’s advertisements included unauthorized therapeutic and health claims, such as promoting support for digestive, hepatic, ocular, and cardiovascular function—claims that violate Brazilian dietary supplement regulations. The agency clarified that supplements must comply with the permitted ingredient lists under RDC 843/2024 and IN 281/2024 and may only use claims authorized by Normative Instruction 28/2018."
