"On November 7, ANVISA issued a regulatory measure suspending the advertising and promotion of seven CentralSul brand food supplements, produced by CentralSul Nutracêuticos Ltda. The action was taken after inspectors identified that the company was promoting the products using unregistered brands and making unauthorized therapeutic and medicinal claims on its Instagram profile.
The promotional content associated the supplements with benefits such as controlling anxiety, balancing blood sugar, improving memory, reducing stress, supporting brain health, aiding fat burning, helping treat diabetes and hypertension, reducing cholesterol and triglycerides, lowering food cravings, and even helping consumers quit smoking—claims that are not permitted for food supplements and require scientific proof exclusive to medicines.
ANVISA suspended advertising for all batches of the following CentralSul products:
- Harmony Protocol (capsules)
- Smoke-Free (liquid food supplement)
- Regulare Oz (capsules)
- Vita Senior (capsules)
- Vigraplus (capsules)
- Energy Focus (capsules)
- Flex Burn (powder supplement)
The agency emphasized that dietary supplements cannot claim therapeutic, medicinal, or disease-treatment effects, in accordance with Brazilian regulations. Supplements must adhere to ingredient and composition rules established under RDC 843/2024 and IN 281/2024, and may only carry claims allowed under IN 28/2018. ANVISA also provides an official list of permitted constituents for supplements, along with usage limits and authorized claims, to guide companies and protect consumers."
