Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has released consultation document PMRL2025-27, proposing updated maximum residue limits (MRLs) for the pesticide spidoxamat in various agricultural commodities.

The proposal outlines new or revised MRLs for several fruit and nut crop groups, including stone fruits, small vine-climbing fruits, citrus fruits, pome fruits, pistachios, and tree nuts. These MRLs are intended to support regulatory alignment, ensure consumer safety, and facilitate international trade by establishing clear residue limits for crops treated with spidoxamat.

Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the proposed MRLs before the adoption of final limits.

Proposed MRLs include:

  • 1.5 ppm – Stone fruits (crop group 12-09)
  • 1.0 ppm – Small fruits vine-climbing (except fuzzy kiwifruit) (crop subgroup 13-07F)
  • 0.9 ppm – Citrus fruits (crop group 10, revised); pistachios
  • 0.3 ppm – Pome fruits (crop group 11-09)
  • 0.01 ppm – Tree nuts (crop group 14-11, except almond and pistachio)
