"The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (Fødevarestyrelsen) has launched a public consultation on a draft executive order revising national rules for the addition of vitamins, minerals, and certain other substances to food. The consultation also covers updated guidelines related to nutrient fortification.

Key proposed changes include:

Folic acid in wheat flour ingredients: Wheat flour products containing folic acid at ≤250 μg/100 g, originating from countries where mandatory folic acid fortification is required, must be notified to authorities before being placed on the Danish market.

Vitamin A and iodine in beverages: Revised requirements for adding vitamin A and iodine to water-based non-alcoholic beverages (with or without flavourings), with updated conditions detailed in an accompanying amendment table.

The consultation aims to harmonize fortification practices, strengthen oversight, and ensure consumer safety."
