"The Council has endorsed the Commission’s proposal to delay the application of the revised EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation until 1 January 2028. Known as the ‘stop-the-clock’ mechanism, the measure aims to give businesses legal certainty and avoid conflicting deadlines for relabelling, formatting, advertising, distance sales, and fuel pump labelling obligations. Part of the ‘Omnibus VI’ simplification package, the move is designed to reduce regulatory burdens while preserving consumer protection and competitiveness. With Coreper’s approval, negotiations will now begin with the European Parliament to reach a swift final agreement."
