On 10 April 2026 Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals), Government of India issued an Order (S.O. 1854(E)) amending the n-Butyl Acrylate (Quality Control) Order, 2021 in the public interest to address global supply chain disruptions. The notification acknowledges that ongoing international supply constraints have affected the availability of n-Butyl Acrylate, an important industrial chemical widely used in coatings, adhesives, plastics, and polymer manufacturing. In consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the Central Government has recognized that temporary regulatory relaxation is necessary to ensure uninterrupted supply in the domestic market. Accordingly, exercising powers under Section 16 read with Sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, the Government has amended the existing Quality Control Order. The amendment introduces a proviso that temporarily suspends mandatory compliance with the prescribed Indian Standard for n-Butyl Acrylate. This suspension applies for the period from 10 April 2026 to 10 July 2026, during which conformity to the relevant Indian Standard shall not be mandatory. The measure is intended to prevent disruption in the supply chain and maintain continuous availability of the chemical for industrial users.
