"The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has initiated a consultation requesting detailed use-level data from food businesses on two key food additives — Sorbic acid/Potassium sorbate (E 200–202), used as preservatives, and Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) (E 321), used as an antioxidant. This data collection is part of the EU-mandated pilot under Commission Recommendation (EU) 2023/965 for 2024–2025, aimed at improving dietary exposure assessments and validating intake estimates used by EFSA. FSAI noted that flavouring data will not be collected nationally, as EFSA will obtain that information directly from stakeholders. The initiative supports future expansion into a larger EU-wide additive monitoring system."
