"Kroger Co. has voluntarily recalled two varieties of its deli pasta salads—Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The recall follows an alert from Fresh Creative Foods, the supplier of the pasta ingredient, which was manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville, California.

The products were sold from the deli full and self-service cases under various store banners, including Kroger, Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, King Soopers, Payless, Ralphs, and Smith’s.
