"Nepal ratified the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, becoming the 108th member to do so. Only three more ratifications are needed for the agreement to enter into force.The agreement aims to curb harmful subsidies that contribute to illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, overfishing, and unsustainable practices on the high seas.A special Fish Fund was launched to support developing and least-developed countries in implementing the agreement. Eligible countries can apply for grants by 9 October 2025.WTO members continue to negotiate additional rules to strengthen the agreement further. "
