The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued an addendum to its previously notified draft Technical Regulation for Honey (G/SPS/N/SAU/437). The update, circulated to the WTO Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, introduces an important labelling amendment aimed at consumer safety.

Under the revised draft, all honey products intended for human consumption must include the statement:

"Not suitable for infant below 12 months"

This addition aligns with international food safety practices intended to protect infants from potential health risks such as infant botulism associated with honey consumption at an early age.

The addendum modifies the content and scope of the earlier notified regulation, with a 60-day comment period ending on 29 December 2025.
