The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea has amended the Food Labelling Standards to introduce stricter labelling requirements for liquor collaboration products that resemble non-alcoholic foods in branding or packaging.
Under Notice No. 2026-37, alcoholic beverages manufactured using names, logos, trademarks, containers or packaging similar to non-alcoholic food products must clearly display terms such as “Alcohol” or “Liquor” on the principal display panel. The regulation requires the wording to appear inside a bordered box using text of at least 20-point font size and in a colour clearly distinguishable from the background. MFDS stated that the amendment was introduced to prevent consumer confusion and accidental alcohol consumption caused by liquor products designed to resemble ordinary foods or beverages.
