The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea has amended Table 5 of the Food Labelling Standards under Notice No. 2026-37 to revise the naming terminology for the food additive “Maltitol Syrup.”

Under the amendment, the additive name “Maltitol Syrup (말티톨시럽)” has been officially changed to “Maltitol Liquid (말티톨액)” in the list of food additives requiring mandatory name or abbreviated name declaration on labels.MFDS stated that the amendment forms part of the broader partial revision of the Food Labelling Standards published on 12 May 2026. Amendments under the notice, the terminology revision took effect immediately upon publication rather than from 1 January 2028.
