"The United States has notified the WTO that the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is immediately revising the voluntary U.S. Standards for Grades of Orange Juice. The revision aims to maintain consistency across federal agencies and prevent disruption to the orange juice industry, while still allowing a 60-day public comment period before the changes are finalized.
The Interim Final Notice updates the Grade B Brix allowances for Pasteurized Orange Juice (POJ) under the national grade standards, bringing them in line with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Standard of Identity (SOI) for pasteurized orange juice. The update supports harmonization, ensures quality consistency, and helps reduce trade barriers.
The notice is published in the Federal Register (90 FR 51637, 18 November 2025) and is linked to Docket Number AMS-SC-25-0057, with related documents available through Regulations.gov. WTO Members may submit comments through the U.S. TBT Enquiry Point until 20 January 2026."
