"The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) in the United States has finalized No Significant Risk Levels (NSRLs) for titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size) under Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25705(c)(2). The adopted limits are 440 micrograms per day for particles with diameters of 10 micrometers or less, and 44 micrograms per day for particles with diameters of 0.8 micrometers or less. These thresholds define exposure levels below which titanium dioxide is not expected to pose a significant cancer risk under California’s Proposition 65. The rulemaking was proposed on May 10, 2024, with a public comment period from May 10 to July 1, 2024. After review, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved and filed the regulation with the Secretary of State on June 18, 2025, and the rule will take effect on October 1, 2025."
