"Vietnam is emphasizing supply chain traceability as a key measure to protect the market from counterfeit goods, which affect products ranging from food and medicine to electronics and technology components. The National Product Traceability Portal is set to officially operate from October 2024, complementing Vietnam’s participation in the GS1 Global Identification System and the adoption of 35 national standards (TCVN), including TCVN 13274:2020 for code formats. Despite widespread tools like QR codes, NFC, and RFID, challenges remain in tracing the full origin of products. Authorities aim to connect data across ministries, sectors, and localities to ensure transparency from production to consumer. A national platform is also proposed to authenticate products and link to personal and organizational IDs such as VNeID. Officials highlight that sophisticated digital counterfeit practices require coordinated efforts from government, businesses, and consumers to maintain market integrity."
