"On April 15, 2025, the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee in Vietnam issued Plan No. 634/KH-UBND to reduce tobacco use and exposure across the province by year-end. The plan targets lower smoking rates, limits passive smoke in public areas, and prevents the spread of e-cigarettes and other new tobacco products. It mandates full compliance with indoor smoking bans in government offices, schools, and healthcare facilities. The plan emphasizes inter-agency coordination, stronger inspection and enforcement, public education, and smoke-free models in sectors like health, education, tourism, and transport. Funding will come from the local budget, the National Tobacco Control Fund, and other legal sources. Community engagement is key, with initiatives led by the Youth Union and local authorities to promote smoke-free behaviours at events and in daily life. Agencies must report results by December 31, 2025, to the Department of Health for provincial and national review."
